The Bureau of Governmental Research (BGR) released a report today calling on more government entities in Louisiana to livestream and archive video recordings of their meetings online, so citizens can continue to enjoy the benefits of remote access as pandemic restrictions ease and in-person meetings resume.
The availability of live and archived video of government meetings during the pandemic greatly improved transparency for citizens. BGR’s new report urges government entities to maintain these benefits by livestreaming and maintaining video archives of their meetings going forward. It further recommends that the Louisiana Legislature modernize open meetings laws to require online and on-demand access to public meetings.
