The Bureau of Governmental Research, a private, nonprofit research organization, is seeking nominations for its annual BGR Excellence in Government Awards.

The awards program, co-sponsored by AT&T and Humana Inc., awards up to $1,000 each to public employees who have improved local government in the metropolitan area. Nominees may be employees of local governments, state employees working in the metropolitan area or employees of local charter schools.

Nominations must be received in the BGR office by July 25 at noon. Nomination forms can be found at or by calling 504.525.4152, ext. 108.

Since 1994, the bureau has presented 144 awards to public employees who improved the way government delivers services in the New Orleans metropolitan area. This year, up to nine awards will be presented.
