Officials should heed watchdogs
Officials should heed watchdogs

The new New Orleans inspector general, Bob Cerasoli, has said that “corruption is not about need or greed, it is about opportunity.”
Those who are charged with spending public dollars must follow standards and practices or they will allow the opportunity for corruption.
I applaud Janet Howard and the Bureau of Governmental Research for their relentless focus on improving the way the city does business.
Our government must learn new ways of doing business. I hope government officials come to see the BGR as a great resource for learning.
If not, I’m sure Jim Bernazzani of the FBI and Inspector General Cerasoli have some lessons they are anxious to teach, and there’s nothing like a captive audience.
