Jindal blasts Duncan ahead of NOLA visit

Education Secretary Arne Duncan is headed to New Orleans today to speak at the Bureau of Governmental Research’s annual meeting and for a couple events highlighting educator leadership. But Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said he wonders whether Duncan is visiting to double down on Obama administration policies that he claims were rejected during the midterms. “Mary Landrieu supported Common Core and was soundly defeated — the voters have spoken,” Jindal said in a statement. “We hope Secretary Duncan is coming to Louisiana to see how real education reform is benefitting kids and families in the real world, and we hope he wants to work with us.” Jindal is currently suing the federal government, alleging federal overreach when it comes to the Common Core and aligned tests.
