As Jefferson Parish officials work on creating an inspector general’s position to monitor and scrutinize the operations of parish government, the Bureau of Governmental Research is holding a briefing on how to pull off such a project.

Over a free breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on June 24 at the New Orleans Airport Hilton, the government watchdog group will present talks from Edouard Quatrevaux, New Orleans’ inspector general, and Amy Kurland, inspector general for Philadelphia. Each will discuss issues surrounding the creation and function of inspector general posts.

Anyone interested in attending may register by e-mailing Angela Henderson of BGR at events@bgr.org or calling 504.525.4152, ext. 108.

The discussion comes after the Jefferson Parish Council convened a committee to begin planning how an inspector general’s office would work in Jefferson, a response to the collapse of President Aaron Broussard’s administration in a double-dealing scandal.
