JAZZ

The music video “We Shall Not Be Moved” is using local musicians and others to draw attention to Katrina’s third anniversary. Creator KEVIN MOLONY says he wants to send the message that New Orleanians are “engaged passionately in the process of moving forward.”

DICK FLESHER, a retired Chicago-area teacher, has brought instruments, soccer uniforms, books and building materials to New Orleans schools through his non-profit Schools Count Corp. Last weekend, he and a group of out-of-state and local volunteers delivered supplies for 23 New Orleans schools.

The BUREAU OF GOVERNMENTAL RESEARCH won top honors for reports on property tax subsidies to private enterprise and blight remediation programs in New Orleans. BGR won Most Effective Education and Most Distinguished Research — the two categories it entered at the annual Governmental Research Association conference in Boston.
