(a) Includes $3,573,344 from a Sanitation Service Charge increase passed by the Council on December 12, 2000. City of New Orleans, Ordinance #19965.
(b) Grants, Contributions, & Fund Transfers is a line item used to account for estimated federal and state grants that the City expects during the budget year, but which are not committed at the time the budget is adopted. As funds are received during the year, an equivalent amount is transferred from this line item to the operating department, board, commission, or agency that will expend the grant funds. This includes a transfer of $3,573,344 to the Department of Sanitation for the Sanitation Collection fee increase passed by the Council on December 12, 2000, Ordinance #19966.
(c) The judicial and parochial agencies are not part of the City government proper under the Home Rule Charter. They perform state functions at the local level, and are not subject to the direct control of the City. However, the City is required by law to contribute to these agencies, and the budgeted amounts shown constitute only a portion of the total budgets of the agencies indicated.
