Read the entire Media Release. 08/25/05 James Carville to Speak at the BGR Luncheon James Carville, America’s best-known political consultant, will be the guest speaker at the BGR 2005 Annual Luncheon. Incisive, insightful and entertaining, James Carville is famous for his quick wit and penetrating analysis of the political world.
Sponsored by the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, the luncheon will be held Friday, November 18, in the Hilton's Grand Ballroom. Luncheon tables of ten are available for $750; individual seating is $75 per person. For more information or luncheon reservations, visit BGR’s web site or call BGR at (405)525-4152, ext 16. 07/28/05 BGR Wins Research Award For the fourth consecutive year, the Governmental Research Association (GRA) recognized the Bureau of Governmental Research for outstanding work. The GRA is the national organization for governmental research professionals.
BGR’s Emerging Issues report Funds and Games: Paying for the Saints received a Certificate of Merit for Most Distinguished Research. The report provided policymakers and the public with financial and other information relevant to negotiations with the New Orleans Saints. Stephen Stuart was the report’s principal author. 06/21/05 2005 BGR Awards The BGR Excellence in Government Awards 2005 will be presented at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, at a breakfast hosted by Loews New Orleans Hotel. Established in 1994, this annual program makes cash awards of up to $1,000 to government employees who have significantly improved local government service.
This year’s honorees are: Dr. Michael Carroll, Assistant Director, Mosquito & Termite Control, City of New Orleans Karen R. Doyle, Principal, CT Janet Elementary, Jefferson Parish Public Schools Mary “Mikie” Ehret, Deputy Superintendent, Jefferson Parish Public Schools B.B. St. Roman, Executive Director, Homeless Assistance Collaborative, New Orleans Police Department St. Tammany Parish Court Criminal Division Customer Service Specialists St. Tammany Parish Department of Finance Staff
The awards will be presented in three categories: the Hibernia National Bank Keller Awards, the BellSouth Lifetime Achievement Awards, and the Latter & Blum Merit Awards.
